RCIA - is a course for those thinking about becoming Catholic. This course is for adults who are seeking to know more about the Catholic faith and the process involved in becoming a
full member of the Catholic Church, this is known as the Rite of Christian Intiation of Adults.
This course usually begins in Term 4 of the school term year and has a December holiday break then recommences at the start of the following year. Initiation takes place at the Easter Vigil Mass, where you will receive the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
There are several stages for people following the RCIA programme:
Inquiry: The initial period of finding out about the process of becoming catholic, asking questions.
Catechumenate: Those who decide to enter the church. A time for developing your faith and being "catechised" - learning the basic points about Catholic faith and life.
Purification and preparation: The church helps you to focus and intesify your faith as you prepare to commit your life to Christ and be received into the Church at Easter.
Initiation: The culmination of the whole process! Received into the church during Easter
Mystagogy: After reception into the church at Easter, there is a period of time that allows you to reflect and learn more about the mysteries of the Mass and the Sacraments.
