Catholic Women's League

Catholic Women's League (CWL): Under guidance from the Holy Spirit, the objects of the league are to unite Catholic women of New Zealand in Christian fellowship in order to enhance the growth of their spiritual, intellectual, family and social life, and to foster mission and charitable works and social action.

Our motto is "Faith and Service." To provide a means by which the voice of Catholic Women in NZ may be heard in national and international affairs. To participate in the pastoral life of the church and maintain liason with the Parish, Diocesan and National organisations. To encourage participation by members in active roles in ecumenical and community life. To listen to interesting speakers, or create activities that all members can participate in.
To help in particular with our mission station on Tanna Island in Vanuatu, where at the present time we are organising funds to have water tanks erected and operating for a school of 240 pupils from all over the area.We try to help in particular those parishioners who are suffering ill health, or any other family troubles that we can assist with.

CWL contacts:

Margaret Sherry, President, phone (07) 575-7868

Meetings are held in the St Thomas More Church complex on the 1st Thursday for Committee, and on the 3rd Thursday, for the group, of every month at 9.45 am, after Mass.

We have a trading table at each meeting and a raffle as well, to assist our funds. We serve tea and coffee at funerals for the family and friends after the Requiem Mass or Service. We would welcome new members with open arms.
