On Sunday 6th November at 2.30pm, . The Bishops Commission of Social Justice is holding an election forum at St Thomas More Church. We have invited local candidates to come and answer some of our concerns as Catholics and where their party stands on certain issues.
We are inviting you, parishioners, to meet with us to formulate questions around issues that may concern you remembering our Bishops theme for Social Justice Week “A Level Playing Field”. Bishop Browne will be in attendance as will a representative
from Caritas.

The National Party have declined to attend our meeting. Labour, Greens, New Zealand First have accepted and we are awaiting response from The Kiwi Party, Maori Party and will be watching out for any further candidates from the minor parties. The Parish Social Justice promotes the Social Justice teaching of the Church and in particular the initiatives of the N.Z Catholic Bishops on issues such as the Treaty of Waitangi, health, employment, education, refugees and migrants, the economy and the Consistent Ethic of Life.
Key aspects of Social Justice are solidarity, education, community organising and advocacy.
